I could be wrong but I believe this is setup for those that would have to run bootcamp with a WindowsOS. I'm not sure if this is still true.

I believe you could disable SIP in recovery mode, then run sudo gpt --vv -r show /dev/disk0 to see it...but I've only got my laptop running Ventura and cannot tell you if things are different now.

Some of the basic techniques will be great but new certification exam has included more mobile technology like iPads and iPhones which also wrapped into it.

Don Pezet will begin shooting the new show including macOS Monterey in late September.

List folders and hidden (system folders) - totalling the size to include subfolders:

For the CompTIA A+, I would make sure to pay attention to what Wes Bryan shows you in the episodes this topic.

There is no easy way for you do this unless you can find a imac, mac mini or macbook to make this work.

In this case, it's a value judgment on the number of questions you think you'll be hit with on the exam that are based on macOS.

Personally, I believe you will be able to lean more heavily on your study of Windows and Linux than on macOS to succeed on the A+ exam. I cannot guarantee that of course. But I do believe it's true.

There are probably many people have stayed on the macOS for reasons like software wouldn't run on the newer version like Big Sur or even Catalina. But in your case, hardware is more difficult. With software, there's always a chance that a vendor may change code to support the newer version.

Some hardware vendors will figure out how to make it work but others will have to wait on collaboration with Apple to do so (e.g. 3rd docking stations that use display link software). I think I stayed on Yosemite a good while, finally just gave up on the docking station.

The big issue with staying with the current macOS is security bugs that will no longer be updated after the EOL. After a while, the next update will always be the next OS.

While you can probably remain functionally problem free, I would say that upgrading is something to consider especially because of security patches.

Now, for anyone: the cost of the exam is 250 USD. I'm Canadian, which means that the exam fee is over $300 Canadian for me. I'm working reduced hours, so a discounted fee would help.

Does anyone know how to obtain a voucher (usually entered when I complete the exam purchase) that can be used to get a discounted exam fee? Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback Ronnie. Looks like it's not possible with my system. My Macbook Pro late 2013 model has Thunderbolt 2 ports. Also, now that Apple has users tied into and synchronized with an icloud account, I have come to the conclusion I'm just asking for major issues trying to do this, even if I had the latest hardware. I guess I will be forced to use the Turbotax online version next year.

You may find that Target Disk Mode will allow you to resolve your issue without removing the hard drive.

This will work essentially the same as what @Ronnie-Wong suggested, but with less work. If something is wrong with the Mac, Ronnie's solution will work as long as the drive is good.

No, my cloud is not connected.
I'm following the steps in the link you provided. In the terminal window I wrote "resetpassword". When I click enter or return key I'm prompted with the window reset password but there are more fields besides enter a new password for this user. One of them says "select the volume disc containing the user account". Sadly, is not showing anything and it's not giving permission to make any change in other fields.

Can you please help me to how to backup before a proceed to recovery OS? For me this would help a lot.

Unless you have another backup of some type, I do not believe you will be able to recover this note.
