Linux for Cloud
-
Hi, I'm trying to learn Linux and Python so that I can use them for my Cloud studies. I am an absolute beginner in all of them. Can you please advise which Linux courses from IT Pro TV I should take?

There's loads of great Linux courses over in the Linux section - check out the "DevPro TV" area for Python... some good ones to check out, and a good order might be:
-
Linux for beginners to get you rolling: https://app.itpro.tv/course/linuxbeginners/overview-linux-beginners
-
Linux essentials - builds on those skills (cert available for this one)
https://app.itpro.tv/course/linux-essentials/web-browsers-lpi -
Linux in the cloud - sounds perfect for your overall goal, if you're going to be running a lab up in the cloud this is well worth your time:
https://app.itpro.tv/course/linuxthe-cloud/overview-linux-cloud -
CompTIA Linux + - new version of this course shooting at the moment, but the current version is great and will teach you more about all areas of Linux. Wait for the new version of the course to come out and watch it too if you wanted to go for the certification. https://app.itpro.tv/course/linux-xk0004/logical-volume-manager-lvm
In terms of python, perhaps start with introduction to python programming:
https://app.itpro.tv/course/introductionprogramming-using-python/overview-98381There's a few courses over there in the DevPro section - pick the ones which match your interests :)
I'd recommend doing at least a couple of the basic Linux courses before trying to dive into python too much, purely because you'll need some basic familiarity with the operating system to be able to actually do programming on it without getting frustrated - the first two on the list should cover it. Know how to install software, create files and folders, change permissions, call programs from the command line... that kind of thing. You don't need to be a Linux master by any stretch of the imagination - but you don't want to spend ages writing a script only to find you don't know how to make it run! :)
You'll also need to pick a Linux distro to work on for your programming - although you'll learn about the various distros and will want to get familiar with both main families through the Linux courses, IMO your best off with Ubuntu for programming - very easy to use and comes with most of the stuff you need for Python work already installed. If you're spinning up a VM in the cloud Ubuntu will be there as a quick install option on every platform.
Enjoy!
