Azure Active Sync
-
I have azure ad connect installed on my on prem exchange server so I can since local accounts to my Microsoft 365. I am now ready to move everyone to a cloud only setup but I don’t want to lose any of my users information. Can I uninstall azure ad connect without losing any of my user accounts and their data. Can I do it one by one to make sure I will not lose any data. I want to be sure my users will not lose any data. Do you have a class on removing active sync without losing user data. I would like to try it for one user first to make sure I understand it.

Hello Devon!
Thank you so much for choosing ACI Learning.
The bad news first - I do not know of ANY way you can do this "user by user" as you alluded to.
The great news - an uninstallation of Azure AD Connect will not delete user account information. Remember, this is a synchronization tool, so deleting the Azure AD Connect feature will result in future account synchronization halting, but you should not see the deletion of accounts from On Prem or within Azure.
Here are the instructions in removing the Azure AD Connect tool:

@Anthony-Sequeira-0 Thank you for the information.

No problem - I am standing by if I can help further.
Also, don't forget that you can always create a free trial account in Azure. I mention this because you can always build a test Azure AD to test the synchronization and its termination.
It is always so valuable to practice in a non-production environment.
