Do you have Study tips ?
-
Hello, I require assistance in improving my study habits for better effectiveness. I find myself overwhelmed by the abundance of information and my attempts to memorize everything seem futile. Could you provide guidance on what key concepts I should focus on retaining from the course material?

What area of CompTIA are you currently studying? A+, Network+, Security+?
While we await your response, here are some of my favorite study tips for topics like CompTIA exams. These are in no particular order:
- Create a study plan that includes tracking
- Use notes and flash cards as needed
- Use multiple resources (videos, blogs, books, etc)
- Take breaks
- Use forums like this one
- Stay positive

I find it helpful for me, when watching videos, to watch the content once, then rewatch the videos and take copious notes. Also, making flash cards helped me immensely with memorization... Especially with acronyms and things like the number of pins and speeds for RAM, USB, etc.
I also recommend using the Pomodoro method for studying:
- Pick a subject (i.e. RAM), and study it for a set period of time, say 30 minutes. Set a timer (there are Pomodoro timers in the iOS and Google App Stores). When the timer goes off, take a 5-10 minute break. Set another timer, and keep going.
Also, utilize the community here... If you have questions, ask away. We're all here to help.

+1 to both what @Anthony-Sequeira-0 and @David-Thompson have mentioned. I also used multiple practice tests to judge my knowledge on a subject. I used the practice tests from ITPro and a couple different books when I took my Server+ exam. It definitely helped me flag weaker areas in the exam objectives and that allowed me to focus my studies once I got closer to my exam date.
Hope this helps!

Another thing, regarding practice questions... If you have an Android phone, you can download a CoimpTIA A+ 220-1101/220-1102 practice questions app. It's called CompTIA A+ Exam Training,. by Easy Prep. I use it all the time to practice my knowledge and keep up on my skills on the go. Also great for downtime. You can track your progress, and even favorite specific questions if you want. Let me know if you want screenshots, if it's hard to find in the Google App Store.

@Mustafa-Mohamud
Thank you for the tips!
I’m going for the A+ exam and it's seems like each subject has a wide range of info. The printers for an example: what exactly should I pay attention to? Is their any rule of thumb so that it is easy to answer the questions in the scenario given in the exam. -
@David-Thompson I appreciate you answer. That was beneficial!

@David-Thompson unfortunately I recently changed to iPhone 😅

@Mustafa-Mohamud Try the iOS App Store. I'm sure they have some A+ practice question apps. You can also take the practice exams on here.
Regarding printers, which is the bane of most IT support pros (including me), I'd say pay close attention to the differences between the printer types (i.e. dot matrix, laser, ink jet, thermal, 3D). A great video on printer types is by Powercert on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEVurb1uVFA
Here's the link to the Powercert YouTube page. Some awesome content: https://www.youtube.com/@PowerCertAnimatedVideos/videos
Good luck! -
@David-Thompson Thank you for your detailed reply.

You too, @Mustafa-Mohamud!
