WVD: Personal or Pooled
-
Hi,
I've recently seen the update to WWD and I am now keen to roll this out within my organisation.I need to migrate a member server across to Azure, which has a back office system installed. If I was installing this in a on premises environment, for each user I would go round to each physical workstation and install the client from the server, logged as the administrator, or run as administrator.
With this in mind, when I create my WWD. Will I need to create Personal or pooled desktops? I've seen various videos but not seen any demos of where custom applications need to be pushed to the user. Users need to access to shared drives and retain my documents etc,,
Thank you in advance.

I hope all is well. The short answer to your question is that it will most likely be Personal Desktops, based on the need to create a
one-to-one
experience for the user with the application. You can take a look at the following article which discusses Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) – Image Management : How to manage and deploy custom images (including versioning) with the Azure Shared Image Gallery (SIG)...
Good Luck !!!
Cheers,
Adam

I've followed the article, and I am unable to create any session hosts with the image I have created. Makes me think that I need to follow another workflow for creating personal desktops. Do you have any sources that show me how to create personal desktops? Am I just better of creating them individually as Windows 10 Virtual Machines?

Seems that I am getting the following error message:
Operation could not be completed as it results in exceeding approved Total Regional Cores quota. Additional details - Deployment Model: Resource Manager, Location: uksouth, Current Limit: 10, Current Usage: 6, Additional Required: 6, (Minimum) New Limit Required: 12. Submit a request for Quota increase at https://aka.ms/ProdportalCRP/?
I then submitted a ticket to increase the limit which has been done and now getting the following error message:
{"code":"DeploymentFailed","message":"At least one resource deployment operation failed. Please list deployment operations for details. Please see https://aka.ms/DeployOperations for usage details.","details":[{"code":"Conflict","message":"{\r\n "status": "Failed",\r\n "error": {\r\n "code": "ResourceDeploymentFailure",\r\n "message": "The resource operation completed with terminal provisioning state 'Failed'.",\r\n "details": [\r\n {\r\n "code": "DeploymentFailed",\r\n "message": "At least one resource deployment operation failed.
