Network+ N10-005 vs N10-006
-
Hello,
I have been studying for the Net+10-005 exam for a month or so. Bought an N10-005 exam cram book. I just signed up for ITpro and realized there is now a N10-006 exam. I hope I didn't was my time studying for an old test. Plan on taking the test in June and I know I should take the most recent exam. Can I still study from the N10-005 book and watch the itpro N10-005 videos + the N10-006 videos and be O.k. for the test? Also I noticed the N10-006 only has about 6 itpro shows, is this still in production or is that all off them? Thanks in advance.

Patrick,
The N10-005 exam is good until 12/31/2015. So if you've been preparing for that exam, there is no need to jump over to the N10-006 exam study yet. We're currently in production on the N10-006 show and things are coming along. But I would just concentrate on the current course of learning you've planned. Everything that you'll learn for the 005 will help towards the 006. The new exam
will also bring in some of the current technology that was new or wasn't around along with IPv6 focus and some basic configuration on networking devices too.So you'll be prepared for the N10-005 with our material and in the near future when we're finished with the N10-006, you'll be prepared for that one too!

Thanks for reply Ronnie.
I looked on Comptia's site and it lists the N10-005 exam as being retired on 8\31\2015 (English version). All other languages retires on 12\31\15. This being the case part of me feels I should get the latest greatest exam instead of the older N10-005. I'm just nervous if I get the N10-005 and put that on my resume it could be frowned upon. I have been a Desktop Support Tech for 15yrs and I'm trying to move up to Network Tech\Admin by looking for another job and that's why I'm getting the cert. to juice up my resume a bit. If I got the 005 cert I wouldn't move up to the 006, I would go straight to the CCNA exam. It just seems like if your gonna spend the money, get the newest cert, but if you believe it doesn't matter all that much at this point, I'll stay the coarse. I'm just on the fence and not sure what benefits me. Appreciate you advice.
Thanks,
Pat
