Kaplan Learn practice questions too hard
-
I just wanted to know what others think about this.
I have no issues with the video content and practice labs provided by IT Pro TV, they are brilliant. Obviously that's why I pay for them. But I just cannot use Kaplan Learn exam question platform.
Every time I try to use the provided Kaplan Learn exam questions they just destroy my concidence and hit me with complex and specific questions that are not covered in the course videos or any other common course materials. Not only that but they are beyond what will be in the real exam. I end up going to a different source for questions more in line with the real exams like Udemy.
I understand that some may feel making the questions harder will better prepare you for an example. But for me I end up going down a rabbit role researching topics and cramming information that will just not be useful for the exam, rather than spending that time learning more relevant information. And if the idea is that providing the deeper knowledge will be helpful in the real world beyond the exam, I still disagree. Exams and exam questions will still not really compare to practical experience (which the labs absolutely help with). Having to cram very specific annoying details that nobody in the real world would remember without looking it up and then those details not even being relevant in the exam I'm taking is not helpful to me.
I understand that Kaplan Learn is it's own thing and is just parterned with IT Pro TV. But for me this platform would have more value if the used a different service and I didn't have to spend money elsewhere to obtain more accurate exam questions.
Does anyone else feel the same way?

So , there's no doubt that assessment providers like Kaplan and others out provide questions that are hard and difficult. To give you some insight. Those that make the questions take the exams often to verify that the questions are inline with what they see on the exam. But why are they so different then? They are different because exam questions are copyright protected. As a company that ONLY does assessment question like this, they cannot afford to be put into a position where there may be a copyright violation. So they have writers and I'm assuming legal teams that pour over this so that they cover what they've seen but make sure it bears no resemblance to what is actually on the exam.
Udemy authors may come close to the line but not over the line of copyright infringement...but if they get a letter from an exam vendor, they simply remove it. If someone like Kaplan, get's a letter, it means that someone is probably pouring through every single question to see if it matches their exams. This would shut down a business, even for one violation if a "cease and desist" is issued. Copyright violations, scary.

You have a valid point and not one to dismiss. Here's the other part of this as well. There are some who are using the questions to do all their study. Not just to assess preparedness to sit for the exam. Where I find value in the assessment questions is in the explanations (when they have them) because they tell me why the answers there are right and why they are wrong. It clarifies my thinking process so that I can do the process of elimination.

We are working on solution but those are not as readily available.

@Ronnie-Wong Hi Ronnie, thank you very much for the insight, I appreciate the response.
I never thought about the copyright angles, so the questions are actually delibrately designed to be different, that makes sense. I also never considered that people will use the questions as the primary study source and therefore need the greater depth of information they provide.

Am I reading this right that there are actually some plans in the works to change this?

Yes, we're looking into what we do and trying to see what and how we can not be as reliant upon another solution. We're starting, I cannot guarantee anything yet.:slightly_smiling_face:
