I'M READING HARDWARE FLASHCARDS, I HAVE STUDIED 3 SOCKETS FOR INTEL AND 4 FOR AMD. BUT FLASH CARDS HAVE MUCH MORE WHICH ARE CONFUSING ME. SO DO I HAVE TO REMEMBER THEM OR ONLY REMEMBER THOSE THAT ARE MENTIONED IN NOTES?

@Mian-Talha-Zia, another great question. My recommendation is that you can identify the naming conventions for Intel and AMD. Traditionally, there are a few types of sockets LGA or Land Grid Array based sockets and PGA or Pin Grid Array based sockets.
- LGA - the CPU utilizes flat electrical contacts call "lands" that make connections to an array within the socket, and a locking mechanism to hold the processer in place, for instance:

- PGA - the CPU utilizes pins that are inserted into openings or ports within the socket, and a zero-insertion force (ZIF) socket to prevent pin damage on the CPU and chip creep, (a condition where the processor loses contact with socket, based on movement due to heating and cooling of the CPU). For instance:

These are the first two attributes to pay attention to when remembering AMD and Intel. Next I would identify the Intel = Core Series, Celeron and Xeon, and for AMD = Ryzen, Epyc, Athlon , Phenom and Opteron. These are some of the more common ones. However, there is no guarantee that you will see these specific CPUs and sockets, during your exam. This is the reasoning behind the flashcards including more, then you will most likely encounter on the actual exam. While this list can be challenging, this is a quality measure to give the exam candidate, in this case our learners to expand their base knowledge.

For future knowledge, AMD Ryzen chips are moving to LGA as well:

Please note, this information is new and will note be on your exam.

@Andrew-Despres you are correct the AMD's AM5 socket is LGA:
