CompTIA Security+ (SY0-701) Practice Exam Release Date?
-
Hello,
I am writing to find out when will the practice exam be availabe for Security+ (SY0-701)?
How long does it usualy take for a pratice exam to be released on ACI once a new exam has been released via CompTIA?
Kind Regards,
Darren

Hey @Darren-Appanah great question, the usual path is around the same time the 701 series is released. If it is not released yet, then it will be very soon.

Where is the test? Im done the course waiting for practice tests.

@Jeff-Braasch,
Our current vendor partner CyberVista doesn't have them released yet. https://certify.cybervista.net/vendor/comptia/We will release them as soon as they have it ready to go. We do not have a timeline for that release from them yet.
The standard pattern that every vendor wants to release as close to the release date as possible but that is no guarantee they will do drop it anytime sooner than that date nor guarantee to do close the exam release date.

Hello!
I sent an email to CyberVista Support asking about this and received the following reply:
I hope it's helpful!

I'm new to learning security +, should I skip 601 and go to 701 since its the newest version or do they build on each other?

@Michael-Edler great question! Some things to consider:
- How well do you feel you are prepared at this point with the 601 objectives? (Do you feel you are close based study time, practice exams and assessments.)
- If you feel you are close, then take the 601 objectives (This will be based on your comfort level on the objectives)
- If you feel that the time needed to prepare for the exam will take you too close the end date for the 601 exam, switch to the 701 objectives (This can reduce the stress on you to meet that deadline)
- Remember, if pass you 601 or 701, you are certified (and for the same amount of time)!
- A great majority of the objectives and concepts will carry over from 601 to 701
I hope this helps and look forward to hearing from you.
