iPhone App frustrations
-
I like to listen to learning content while driving. I've noticed an obnoxious issue with the iPhone app. If I hit an area of low service, instead of buffering like most apps the video freezes but the video time continues to increment. Once I get service again the video resumes at whatever time the video is at, skipping a chunk of the video. Seeking back through the content is not ideal (or legal in many cases) while driving. Hoping that mentioning this here might get some development work on fixing this issue.
Thanks!

I complained about same issue multiple times around year ago.
Support suggested to use browser in iPad for better experience as iPad app improvement was not in the pipeline.Although video time does not increment while watching videos in Chrome on iPad if Internet connection is intermittent it has so many other annoying issues what really make me think twice if it is worth to renew my subscription.
Issues in Chrome on iPad:
- Site logs out at least once a day. Sometimes I am half way through the video when it stops playing. Refreshing page takes to login screen. Login cookie should last way longer than 1 day.
- Although there is "Auto Play" option it works only half way. It will bypass requirement to press on continue to next video button but I still have to press Play to start next video. If internet in intermittent then last video page might hung so I have disabled auto play option and press 2x (sometimes 3x to make "continue to next video" button visible).
- Play button is white. Most time video frames are white as well so play button in the middle of the video is not visible. White Play button should have dark line around it to make it better visible.
- When I set video to full screen view then it kicks out of full screen at the end of every video. There are many series where videos are only between 5-10 minutes long and after every video I need to press on video once to make control buttons visible and then find small full screen button in the corner (on top of 2x to play next vide in the first place). So I have given up and don't full screen any more.
- Who wants to hear "You are watching ITPro TV" all the time? Luckily it disabling intro mostly works.
- Although it happens way less in Chrome compared to iPad app there are still often cases when videos don't get marked "viewed" so I need to reopen videos to mark them viewed manually to get video into my completed courses list.
- Download is per video and not per series. When I download them then they are outside the app and don't update watched video listing.
Comparing ACI Learning, CBT Nuggets, Pluralsight and Udemy application quality and user experience then hands down Pluralsight is the best!
In Pluralsight app I can do both bookmark and add similar series into channel to keep them in same view.
Autoplay works.
Full screen works.
Play continues even if I lock screen.
I can perform in-app download.
Download is by series, allows to hold up to 30 series inside device at a time and no download limit.
And what most important - watching downloaded videos keeps track of how far I am in the series every time app gets access to Internet. -
Sadly the iPhone app doesn't get updated. According to the app store version history:
v2.6.0 was released about 6 months ago, so around October 2023
v2.5.5 was released two years ago.CBT Nuggets isn't much better.
