AWS Storage Solutions Show
-
Hi
I was wondering whether the Storage Solution Show was upto date with the 2018 Exams? I only ask because I noticed the show referred to Reduced Redundancy Storage (RRS), My understanding is that RRS is being phased out by AWS and in the 2018 Exam in Favour of Infrequent Access - One Zone. I have seen exam test questions on this But it wasn't covered off in the show.
can anyone shed any light on whether the new exam will have RRS or IA-OZ?
Many thanks

Hey Rahim,
Thanks for bringing this up. We are going to revisit the S3 section of the Solutions Architect - Associate show. Concerning whether the new exam (2018) will address RRS versus IA-OZ, that is more difficult to address in a clear manner as RRS is still available. For the exam, I would make sure that I knew about RRS, but since IA-OZ is newly available and configurable through the management console, the new exam could test you on IA-OZ. No guarantee that you will have questions about the new storage classes, but those would be the storage classes that are available for testing.Hopefully that helps.

Hi JustinAny idea when these shows are going to be released? I think it is an important Topic for the 2018 exam
from the forums on the internet, RRS will be phased out shortly and will only continue to be available for those accounts that have RRS already deployed, Newer account and those that do not not have RRS deployed will no longer have access to RRS. Amazon already are already discouraging users in deploying RRS
***********"REDUCED_REDUNDANCY—The Reduced Redundancy Storage (RRS) storage class is designed for noncritical, reproducible data that can be stored with less redundancy than the STANDARD storage class.
Important
We recommend that you not use this storage class. The STANDARD storage class is more cost effective."***********
https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonS3/latest/dev/storage-class-intro.html.
IMO, there will be questions that favour the IA-OZ solution over the RRS Solution as AWS do require any solution to take account of the cost of its services.
Thanks

We are hoping to work on the S3 shows next week. I agree that you should not utilize RRS for anything new as it is definitely not a cost effective solution based on the current offerings.
However, if you are finding more discrepancies in any of the shows, please let us know, and we will address those issues.
Thanks again.
