I have just finished the Networking module and I'm about to start databases. I'm using the CompTIA fundamentals + certmaster ebook/study guide. Also been watching ITproTV IT Fundamentals, which has been outstanding. Ronnie and Don are my heroes!. As far as date, I am projecting to be ready around 5/18. After I finish the Fundamentals. My next goal is to start studying for the A+.

@Milton-Morales,
Great feel free to post any questions that you may have as you prepare for this exam. -
Hi Milton:
I myself have achieved this Certificate (IT Strata Fundamentals) the very first CompTIA IT Fundamentals, I know I used the Mike Meyers All-in-ONE Study Guide when it comes to preparing and studying for this exam, I think it has around 40 or 50 questions, with about an hour or so to complete, I think everyone should study this course, so everyone has a good understanding of computers and technology.

We created a set of ITF+ review questions (and answers) to help you assess your knowledge of the ITF+ content. The docs are now available in the episode files download for the course.
Enjoy! -
I plan on taking the FC0-U61 exam in September once I move. I am confused though what to study for as I watch the videos, I am remembering a lot of it, do I have to know everything on there to study? I noticed ITPROV.TV does not have a mock test for me to take, is there anywhere to go where I can see what a test might look like? I know someone recommended a book All In One, does this work for the FC0-U61 test, as IT pro said this course we are going over is for that test, and not the old one. Sorry for all the questions, I am new to IT, and wanting to make a career change, and as stupid as this may sound, ITPRO.TV is showing that even someone like me can actually get into IT. So thank you very much everyone. BTW I was using arp -a and ipconfig commands at work on my computer (just to look at their network, I do not work in IT. ) I was able to get into their default gateway by typing the IP into the website and looking at their router set up. (Even though you didnt show this) I was able to figure out stuff on my own. Thanks again. Sorry for the supper long message.

@Milton-Morales How was your experience with the certmaster ebook/study guide? I am hoping to save myself some money on this exam and not purchase the ebook... although, I am intrigued. Would you say that the ITPRO.TV info is enough? Or, would you recommend the ebook too? My goal is to go for the A+ after the ITF+ too :)

This particular certification is equivalent to a survey course that shows you the gamut of the post popular IT career fields that people tend to want to be in. IT jumps from field to field to give you a chance to see if this is a particular field you have an affinity in so that you may know how to better plan your certification path in the future.
It also shows potential hires that you've taken the time to consider why you chose their company because you understand the job role too.
We do not have a practice-exam for this is a free course available through a free signup. CompTIA may have them available at a premium.
It seems like you learning things on your own as well. This a good sign that you have an affinity for IT in your future.

Good afternoon all, I am currently studying for the"Comptia IT Fundementals" exam and have just completed ITPRO.tv training, is there any other resources you would suggest for me to use to prepare for this exam? I am hoping to get the certification by the end of this month as I start my new IT career in September.
Many Thanks,
Jake, -
@Ronnie-Wong Is there a practice test for CompTIA IT Fundamentals+ (FC0-U61)? I just completed the course!
Thanks!Eric
-
@ITProTVivian I was trying to look for that but I cannot find them! I just completed the CompTIA IT Fundamentals+ (FC0-U61)
-
@Eric-Wheeler,
I'm not sure if there is one or not. For a definitive answer please submit this question to support@itpro.tv. -
@Eric-Wheeler I've been looking for that too. It seems other areas have practice exams except for the Fundamentals.
-
@ITProTVivian Where are the review questions and answers? All I see are the PDF notes for each lesson.

Hello Everyone this would be my first time replying.
I would like to be able to take the CompTIA IT test at the end of September I have been studying since this pass April. My question is when is the best time to used the practice test. -
Use the practice tests, as an assessment of learning. Put differently, use it find out where you knowledge weaknesses are. Then study those objective areas to build knowledge.
Do not use them often. I used to always give the following advice to a ILT classes.
Take one before you study anything to start with a baseline of your knowledge. Use that along with the published exam objectives to see the areas you are strong and weak.Take time to learn more in the areas of your weaknesses and some time reviewing areas you're stronger in. If you've prepared correctly after some time.
Randomize the practice exam, and take it again. See if you've improved in your weakness again. Hopefully, you have.If so, use the second result to do the same pattern and look for improvement on your 3rd attempt. If you continue to improve, then you're working where you need.
Use the exam objectives at this point to make sure you've covered area knowledge area.
Then get into the booth, and pass the exam.

Hi, Im very to new to IT Pro, Im due to start a AWS course next week. I wanted to do the CompTIA IT fundamentals to catch myself on the basics.
How to best use this platform to learn, When to view the lessons and when to use the practice labs. There seems to be an over lap in the two and its rather confusing.
Also the vitrual labs seems to log itself out left alone for a few minutes, and I have to go through a whole process again to get back to where I left off, is there a way turning off the auto-log out or another way to get around this problem? -

When to view the lessons and when to use the practice labs. There seems to be an over lap in the two and its rather confusing.
This depends on your comfort level. Some will use ITProTV as a way to review key concepts. In this way, they will watch the recordings and may do a lab if they need. Others who are learning the material may want to try and follow along and do a lab concurrently with the episode (this is difficult and requires time to get everything setup to do so). Other's may want to watch an episode, and then do what they had just observed to reinforce what has been taught.
Some of our courses were produced before labs were created by our lab partners to do them. Other shows may have labs that were created extemporaneously during the episodes.
To get the most out of ITProTV, I recommend that you absorb the material during a viewing. Write down questions...and only questions during the episode as you watch it the first time. Then research answers using the video, the show's learner resources, and search engine to learn more about the topic. If it has a lab, use that also to help isolate answers to your questions.
If you have additional questions, use the forums here and post as you've just done successfully. The Edutainers do monitor and answer here just as I've done.
For the virtual lab issue. Please contact our member services: support@itpro.tv so that the issue can be logged and hopefully addressed in the best manner possible.
Thanks for being a member!

Hi, first of all, please note that this is not a criticism, but a request for help.
I have purchased access to CompTIA courseware for IT Fundamentals+ (FC0-U61) and A+ (220-1001 & 220-1002 in a single guide).
I'm curious about something here at ITProTV.
To me, it seems as if the courseware (specifically the videos) here for A+ is structured almost exactly in line with the official CompTIA documentation (student guide), but the videos for ITF+ are not in in line with the CompTIA FC0-U61 student guide.
For example, the CompTIA ITF+ guides have 5 modules:
-
M1 Using Computers
-
M2 Using Apps and Databases
-
M3 Using Computer Hardware
-
M4 Using Networks
-
M5 Security Concepts
In each Module there are 4-5 topics covering specific items.
The videos here are categorized into more general categories, that (seem to) skip around - which, in and of itself is not a problem - but when I have a single video that covers topics from different Units or even Modules in the ITF+ guides, it gets hard to refer to the videos.
(It seems almost as if the videos were structured for a previous iteration of the ITF+ organization, but that when CompTIA changed things around, the videos here were not changed to match - this is just speculation on my part, as I don't have access to previous iterations of CompTIA's study materials, just the current).
It there an easier way (than me downloading all the videos and manually creating embedded videos with specific time spans) to correctly correlate the videos with the current ITF+ course material from CompTIA?
I'm trying to streamline everything so that if I have a specific question about a specific topic in ITF+, I can easily refer to a specific video for more information, but that has been hard to do a couple of times now.
Thanks for any help that you can offer.

@Robert-Bedell,
We used the current official exam objectives to insure that we covered the all the material and we grouped them to how we believe the topics fit best together. As the content of any published material is proprietary to them, we do not have rights to them.
There is no easy way to make our videos match up directly to a publisher's material. I would like to make a suggestion you would use the two sources of information as different points of view to consider.
We are working on more way to make our videos more searchable but I do not have any timeline on when that may occur.
