Server - DNS issue
-
Hi all,
So last night i was watching some of the Apple Mac videos on here and i thought i'd give setting up Open Directory on two Yosemite clients (one with the Server add on) and another with Yosemite 10.10 as a client.I've correctly set up the Profile Manager, the groups, the bindings and the certificates as required, but however I am not a bit on a stumping ground with regards to my test open directory account.
I have a test account in which I am using as a dummy login for this training session I am doing, and its set as local network directory , when i try to log in on the client side it - the login just returns me to the prompt with no error or message. I thought I had the password wrong but thats correct, but however I am thinking this could be a DNS issue. I know I can log in with the open directory admin account on the client machine but not my dummy account.
If it is a DNS issue do i need to reset the DNS on the server side? It is automatically set up to send out IP addressess to any client machines connected in the open directory environment.
Any help or pointers in the right directory would be most appreciative :)
Kindest Regards

My apologies for not seeing your post here. I'm thinking that we may need a little more information to help out.
If DNS is the issue on the server side, select the other test machine and see if you can use the network utility for a DNS test to the server. If it resolves via hostname the issue is probably more of a client side issue.
If you get a return try to clear the dns cache of the problematic machine and see if that allows you to now connect.

Did you setup both forward and reverse DNS along with all the forwarders to your ISP? Can you screen shot your server side configuration?
