Posted on behalf of Tom C re CEH course
-
I received the following from Tom C who wished to share this with the others who attended CEH the past couple of weeks and am posting as written on his behalf.
Hello other participants in the CEH-course
Unfortunately I've only been able to follow the course live as a ”free-wheeler” because of monetary shortcomings...
So I've not been able to participate actively in the chat room, nonetheless I would like to add something to the community – not only taking advantage of the cumulative knowledge gathered in the chat room ;-) :-)First a few links, notes and questions:
Realtime world map of cyber attacks (source: Fr. Robert Ballecer)Journal of Physical Security (a little dated) (I think it was mentioned on SN)
An easy way to make CD’s and DVD's unreadable is a few seconds in the microwave standing in the lunch room - very effective!
Tuesday 24/3
Food for thought:
Most of the chat room was surprised by what could be found on the internet and the power of social engineering.
At least one person remarked, that hopefully the black hats wasn't watching this course. I think a few might very well watch
this course along with us...
But people don't walk the walk - with copy’s of the chat room conversation from the whole week, I am able to create rather detailed profiles of many members of the forum - have you put any thought in that.? :-)Wednesday 25/3:
(1) How many AV-solutions are aware of NTFS' Alternate Data streams?(2) Have any of you done some research on the UAL on different cloud services?
Is it possible to spin up at virtual instance and do some (semi-anonymous) pen-testing from the cloud?Thursday 2/4:
Two additional antenna categories:
Helix - ultra directional (i.e. used by HAMs to send beyond the horizon by bouncing signals off the moon)
Patch – (as patch on a PCB) used in your mobile phone and a plethora of electronic@Michael Robins
Yes, Fr. Robert Ballecer has showed a AirPCap on one of his shows.Story from SN:
A story from the Snowden-leaks told about US intelligence was “playing” with Syria’s big iron back bone router and "accidentally" bricked it =-o
Luckily for US the syrian admins thought it was a HW-failure and no US cover was blown. -
Re Journal of physical security link, the site appears to be down but the papers are available on Slideshare here: http://www.slideshare.net/noham1887/documents
