Is ITPROTV all i need?
-
I recently decided that I would work towards starting a career in IT and I want to start studying for various certifications. I don't want to pay for several different learning sources, so my question is this.
If my goal is to pass certification exams such as the ones provided by compTIA and Cisco, is ITPROTV all i need? -
Hi @ogechukwu-obiajulu ,
That is a great question! I would say that for a paid service to help you with your certifications in the area of CompTIA, we definitely would be huge advantage. We were a CompTIA partner at one time when that was a thing, and our instructors for CompTIA are probably some of the best in the world. There are also several free resources out there that you can find. I am tagging @wesbryan here to have him comment as well.
As far as Cisco, we have several training courses for Cisco, but we do not cover the entire library. That would be something you would want to look into as far as what you are attempting to achieve in networking certifications.
Finally, a lot depends on you! What are your study habits? Do you do well on exams? Do you have a system in place to help you study? You can always use these forums to get assistance and advice, so make sure you utilize it. Best wishes and success in your journey and thanks for having us along for the ride.

For CompTIA's A+ course, I recommend buying Professor Messer's Notes and Practice Exams. His practice tests are far superior than ITProTV's. However, (to me) his videos are little more bare bone and less engaging than Wes Bryan.
Note: that he gives away his videos for free on his website and YouTube.
Between ITProTV and Professor Messer I passed first time on both A+ exams.

Some places to check out for IT content...
- Kevin Wallace (teaches Cisco stuff, but also CompTIA Network+).
- Jason Dion.
- Mike Meyers.
- Professor Messer.
- Paul Browning (can find him on YouTube): https://www.youtube.com/@howtonetworkcom/videos.
- Powercert. Some great videos on different IT subject matter: https://www.youtube.com/@PowerCertAnimatedVideos/videos.
There's more, but these should get you started, along with IT Pro TV.

I highly recommend the use of the Exam Cram books. They were great when I studied my A+ back in the day and their Net+ book is also very good.
The All-In-One books by Mcgraw-Hill are also very good.
If you can, getting hands-on training beyond the virtual labs of ITPro helps with understanding concepts as well. Setup some Hyper-V or VirtualBox devices and get them talking/set up services for them.
