CompTIA A+ Exams
-
Hello ITProTV friends :) ,
I would like to ask you something that it is still unclear in my mind.
I am planning to participate in CompTIA A+ Exams but i cant understand if i need to go to a Test center or do i have the option to do it remotely (from my home).
Any advise would be appreciated :) Thanks.

Hey @antonis-kougkas, that is a great question! Your test will come from Pearson Vue and you have two options:
1 - In-person testing - this requires locating an authorized Pearson Vue, scheduling an exam date and showing up "on-location."
2 - Online testing - this requires a prerequisite check on the computer that you will take the exam from, scheduling the date and time of the exam, and launching a supported web browser and connecting to the Pearson Vue online exam platform. Here is the CompTIA website containing additional detailed information on these two testing offerings from Pearson Vue: https://www.comptia.org/testing/testing-options/about-testing-options
If you have additional questions, please to not hesitate to reach out to us!

Something I'd like to mention here and out of abundance of caution, you will be asked to download a piece of software prior to the test (when do it remotely), so if this is your main machine, I would consider on paying attention what is being installed, so the same will be removed after.
-
You will also be asked to upload photos of your home testing area, to make sure that you do not have any notes or study materials close by. I can't confirm or deny (maybe an Edutainer can?), but I thought there was also a rule about not too much movement during test-taking. I could be mistaken or have misread something on the Pearson Vue website.

Hey @David-Thompson , I can confirm that you are correct. The exam proctors follow a strict set of protocols to maintain the integrity of the exams and the testing platform. This can include (not a complete list):
- Pictures of your Photo ID (Front and back)
- Pictures of your testing environment (left, right, front, back)
- Webcam photo
- Live webcam, audio, microphone (for real-time exam monitoring)
- All programs close, with the exception of the exam platform
- Software installation and platform test prior to sitting exam
- Run the test from the computer to test on,
- Give yourself plenty of time to run the test, do not wait until 30 minutes prior to the exam
- While you are testing you will not be able to:
- Read the questions out loud, or talk
- Write any notes
- Open any software
- Leave the testing area
You can find additional information here: https://home.pearsonvue.com/Test-takers/OnVUE-online-proctoring.aspx

Oh that's right. Thank you, @wes-bryan, I completely forgot about the no reading the questions aloud or talking. That must've been the "no movement" thing I meant. Thanks for clarifying!

@David-Thompson you are welcome! The OnVue experience is very convenient.
