How do I get the most out of ITPRO?
-
I was in a 12 month school program that wasn't a right fit for me, that said I still want to pursue a career in IT. I have went ahead and signed up here at ACI for a year. I'm starting with the COMPTIA A+ courses and really enjoying them! Where should I go from there? I haven't taken the 1101 cert yet but plan to do so. Thanks to anyone reading!

@Ian-Goldstein great question, when getting started out I would recommend CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ for a solid foundation. Then I would focus on a vendor-centric certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, AWS....etc, to get some training in those areas. If you have additional questions, please reach out to me.

Hi Ian, and welcome to ACI... I've been on IT Pro TV for a while now, and would say, judge your path by your experience level. Try looking over some of the CompTIA A+ videos. If the material is a bit over your head, which is okay, maybe take a step back and check out the IT Fundamentals material. Once the A+ has been obtained, it's time to determine what path you want to take.
Networking? Do you want to generalize (then Network+) or do you want to specialize (then Cisco)?
Desktop Support? After the A+, maybe Network+, and then some Microsoft certs to round out the knonwledge.
System Administrator? Then Microsoft Windows Server, CompTIA Linux+ or the LPIC Linux series.Good luck in your travels, and in your studies! Keep us posted on your progress... We're rooting for you!

@wes-bryan @David-Thompson Thank you both for your advise and guidance, really enjoying the cousres so far! I agree with you both, I'm not sure what line of work I'd like to do yet in the IT feild. So getting a inside view into all the different certs is a great idea. I have the tools here, might as well use them!
