Server+ Exam
-
Howdy everyone!
I have completed the Server+ curriculum here at ITPro and noticed that while doing the flash cards I seemed to have a lot of gaps in my knowledge. I have also completed the All-In-One Server+ Certification book by Daniel Lachance.
I have gone through my weak points and I am testing better with the exam simulations. My question is, to whoever has taken the SK0-005 exam recently, what were you scoring on your exam simulations before taking the real exam? I am currently sitting at around 77%-86% for my exam simulations depending on the exam objectives. I am writing my exam on October 20th.
Thank you!

@Andrew-Despres,
I know everyone studies differently...but here is what I would do with those questions you're not getting right on the first try. Go through each explanation and make sure you understand why the answer chosen is right and also why the other answers are considered wrong. Any of the answers you do not understand, take some time to do a little review of those answers so you understand them. Do not worry about the score, worry about the knowledge. So, that's what I would recommend. -
Good advice Ron. Thank you!

Writing the exam Friday morning. Just finished an exam simulation and scored 84.4%. I know my weakest points after a week of studying and I will focus on those sections and do another simulation on Thursday. I think I'm going to be alright. I'll update this post with my final results on Friday. Wish me luck!

@Andrew-Despres,
Sounds like great progress and that you're working through reading the questions and explanations methodically! Next step, remember that when you sit for the exam. On difficult questions, you will simulate this. Even though you do not have the explanations on the exam. If you approach it this way, you will weed out many of the wrong answers very easily. Bravo! -
Good luck @Andrew-Despres!

Guess who has 2 thumbs and is Server+ Certified?
This guy!!!
Thank you @Ronnie-Wong and @wes-bryan for the amazing course! Passed with a 765 :D

Great job @Andrew-Despres I am so glad you like the course, but remember you put in all the hard work! Congrats......

Planning to take the same on 30th October. Using Troy McMillan's Guide and ACI's practice tests. Currently scoring 88% and over on practice tests.

Hey Brian,
That's exactly what I was scoring around before taking this exam. I think you should be GTG. Make sure you feel fairly comfortable with subnetting as I faced a few questions about it. Biggest advice I can give is make sure to take time reading the questions. The way CompTIA writes them is terrible and 1 word can completely change what kind of answer you will give. Also make sure to go for the BEST answer. Often times there were multiple right answers IMO.

Hello Andrew,
Just as you previously indicated in your post above, I faced more questions on subnetting and also redundancy. I guess I should start falling in love with lengthy questions since today's paper was much of those. The exam was challenging I must say but I narrowly passed with 756.
I plan to take the Linux+ by end of the month. -
@Brian-Wafula congratulations on your accomplishment!

@Brian-Wafula AWESOME!! Congrats Brian! I'm glad my advice was able to help you pass your exam.
Good luck with the Linux+!
