Starting in Cyber Security
-
I was wondering what courses I would need to complete to be able to start a position in cybersecurity. I am not sure what the learning path from point A to Z would look like to become a Cybersecurity professional.

Hi Rafiq,
First question is what is your background? Do you currently have any type of IT training or experience? This will really help point you in the right direction.

@Rafiq-Noori, great question I agree with @Andrew-Despres. If you are just getting in cybersecurity a good start would be CompTIA's Security+ and followed by CompTIA's PenTest+ or CySA+. This would depend on your focus such as red team vs. blue team, vulnerability management activities and your current level of knowledge. You do not have to follow a CompTIA pathway, for instance there are options such as EC Council and GIAC.
You can get additional information from the links below:
- CompTIA Security+ - https://www.comptia.org/certifications/security
- CompTIA PenTest+ - https://www.comptia.org/certifications/pentest

- EC Council (CEH) - https://www.eccouncil.org/train-certify/certified-ethical-hacker-ceh-v12/
- GIAC - https://www.giac.org/
When you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to ask!

If you have no IT background, you might want to peruse the ITF+, A+ and/or Network+ content to gain a solid foundation before you dive headlong into the cyber stuff.
