Guidance please - New in this platform

Greeting everyone. I am new here and would like some guidance.
About me:
I don't have any certification. I am working on my MS in Cybersecurity and this semester I am taking my last class for the degree. This semester I am adding a particular certificate to that Masters so it will take me 2 more semesters to graduate. I just don't want to get the degree and have zero experience in the cyber field. Currently. I am not working and July 2021 was my last day working full time at a place as an IT Generalist (hardware, software, database) in charge of 400+ computers. Now that I am so close to graduate, my aim is (somehow) to land in a cyber security job, but I don't have experience in this particular field. I see certifications are more important and valuable than the Master's degree. That being said, my plan is to get the CompTIA Network+ certification first and following it Security + . That order because I watched a video where the instructor mentioned that a subject within the Security + exam is about Networks so then I decided to start with Network+.One. Any suggestion anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Two. Is there a Network+ study group here. Would it be a good idea to study to both certs at the same time?
Three. Is there any order to get those certifications.?Thanks to all,
RD
P.D.: Something else. Who knows what job I would get but I definitively more technical. For example: I like playing with wireshark, nmap, zenmap, qualys.... (you got the idea, right?). Thanks again.! -
Hi @Rocio-Devine,
There is no required order for you to take the Net+ and Security+, but it's usually a good idea to do them in that order and to study for them independently. It's up to you if you wish to study them both at the same time, it can be done, but it may be overload if you're going for both certs.
As for gaining experience, I always suggest building a home lab and don't forget your actual home network. It's all hands on, so you'll have to do a lot of trial and error to get it all to work (but that experience is absolutely worth the aggravation). You can also try and get some freelance work.
Just my 2-cents. Hopefully it helps. :)

Hello Daniel, your 2-cents suggestions are very good. The home lab/network is something have crossed my mind and I will put into place. The free lance ... (thinking) ..someone in the past suggested me to do ....
Thanks for the feedback.
