My name is Japhet. I am taking the CYSA course right now. I love it so far. I am currently on Common Network Architecture.
I notice that I have Labs that I can take as well. So I jumped to that and noticed that there were some materials in the lab that I have not learned yet through the instructional videos yet.
When should I start doing the labs? Is there a course map that shows when I should a lab in between which lesson?
For instance, the first lab I just did had me install splunk and had me export the data. Though when looking at the data I was not sure what I was reading lol. Should what I was reading be covered soon in the cysa lessons? -
Hi @Japhet-Rivera,
Thanks for reaching out! I have noticed similar issues with other ITPro courses as well. I found how the labs were organized for the Net+ course to be quite confusing as well. I think the folks here at ITPro could do a better job at connecting lessons (or groups of lessons) with specific Labs.
I believe the answer to this in the past would be to reach out to customer service and log a ticket with them. That's when they will start to consider requests like this. I don't work for ITPro, just a lurker here on the forums and a guy trying to skill up :)
Hope this helps!

Hey @Japhet-Rivera, great question! The videos teach the concepts of the CySA+ objectives. The labs give the learner hands-on experience with the concepts. You will encounter exercises in labs that may provide documentation to review to reinforce the concepts. The videos and labs are developed separately; however, we recommend utilizing them together to learn and practice the content.
