Subnetting.
-
I have watched the videos for N10-008 about 4 times now. While I can work along with the instructors and understand the problem when I am practicing on my own I am completely lost. Any advice or tips? I have the exam scheduled for 5-11-2024 and I know subnetting will most likely be a PBQ on the exam.

Hi @Cynthia-Yoder ,
I too have had a ton of trouble figuring out subnetting. A great way to understand it is the "You Suck at Subnetting" series by NetworkChuck.

@Cynthia-Yoder,
Start with an understanding of why you do subnetting. If you do not understand that, then it's not going to make sense of what you're doing to accomplishing it. -
@Cynthia-Yoder I struggled for a long time with subnetting. Someone would explain it to me and I'd understand it, and then, after not using it every day to build that memory muscle, I'd lose it and it wouldn't make sense any more. Once you grasp the idea, try to do some subnetting daily until it clicks. Along with Network Chuck, I'd check out Wendell Odom, who has a master class on subnetting (can probably find it on YouTube somewhere), Kevin Wallace, and Keith Barker. All three of them do a masterful job of explaining what subnetting is, why we need it, and how to do it.
Good luck!
