Wifi Standards speeds
-
Hi all,
I am studying for the A+ certification path and was watching the wireless protocols video.
In the video it stated that 802.11ac (Wifi 5) has a theoretical speed of 7Gbps.
however in the practice exam it states it is actually 1.3Gbps.
Looking online it seems everyone has a different definition as on some websites it can range from 1.1Gbps too 3.5Gbps.
Who's right and who's wrong and where should I look to get the official classifications?Thank you

Hey Connor,
I believe that 1.3 Gbps is correct. I have seen references of 433 Mbps (for a single link), 1.3 Gbps 1.7, 3.5 and even 7 Gbps (6.33). The focus will be about identifying 1Gbps+ speeds in comparison to 802.11n. Also, for the exam, pay attention to the fact that 802.11ac uses MU-MIMO, channel bonding of up to 160 MHz wide as well as up to 8 spatial streams. If you would like a reference, Cisco has a good article here and thanks for watching:

Thanks Wes,
I'll have a read through!
