Courses and practice tests not the same
-
Hello. I was under the impression that all the information I need to pass any test would be in the course videos but after finishing the CompTIA fundamentals course, I feel like there was a lot of information that just was not touched on. Is there more to these course videos that I have to visit in order to get a full understanding before acing these practice tests? I’m very much new to IT as a whole. From the answer references on the practice tests seems like they were referring a book.

For what I see, Fundamentals is so broad that you might have to download the exam objectives and do some foot work. In my opinion these sets of videos are focused in showing people the different job roles that you could find in IT. Not necessarily going in depth into some of them. For example, Don talks about coding software and tries to briefly explain the concept of programing logic. There is more to it in depth that what was shown. To recap, download the exam objectives from CompTIA website or if your interest is been a tech, start at CompTIA A+ course. You do not need IT fundamentals necesarily in my opinion. That just gives a brief overview of the IT current roles.

All of the courses that we offer are based on the exam objectives that are published by the the certifying organization. We cover it the level as described the by the verb in those objectives and all the topics covered in those objectives.
The ITF+ course is an introduction to the different job roles you're likely to come across in IT. It is a sampling of the most basic skills that are needed in those fields. There is no possible way that simply watching a video will prepare you for an exam. You must take the course and make sure you can understand it meaningfully. If you download the exam objectives from CompTIA as recommended by the other poster. You can look over those objectives any topic you cannot explain or demonstrate at the verb level found means that you're not ready for that topic on the exam.
We do not base our course on anyone's book for an exam either as that would be a violation of copyright to do so.

@Victor-Rosa @Ronnie-Wong I think I understand now. Thank you for the clarity. I just figured I would only take the fundamentals course and it would prepare me for A+ but just jumping straight to A+ is good enough and more thorough that those videos will give me exactly what I need for the A+ test. If I’m not mistaken.

Just want to put my .02 in.
Having achieved 2 CompTIA certs in my career so far my advice would be to have multiple sources to learn from. The videos, practice exams and labs that ITPro TV offer are very good. However, I have always needed to use study source like a book as well as using Google to find articles/Youtube videos to truly start a gain an understanding of the course material. Professor Messer on Youtube has some great video playlists for both A+ exams as well as other CompTIA exams.
Hope this helps!

@Andrew-Despres makes perfect sense. Never hurts to watch different sources with different explanations so you get a full understanding. And to think I was planning to just run through these videos assuming I would get it that quickly lol. Thank you for the input and extra source

Anytime @Jean-Marc-Agnant.
I had very similar notions as you did when I was studying for my Server+. I ran through the course and practice tests here and felt super confident.
I found some different practices tests elsewhere and I bombed those HARD. Thats when I found a study guide and read through that material. I was then able to pass the actual exam with flying colours.
Reach out if you ever need to probe the hive-mind here :)
