New Download Feature Not Working
-
I love the interface of the new download feature, but I either can't find where the files are being saved or they're not actually being downloaded. I've checked the downloads and temp files, along with my browser settings to see if it was set to something different. The files take time to download, so I have to imagine there's data being transferred somewhere. Suggestions?

So I got an incredibly fast response from Tim. The feature currently only works with Chrome; Firefox and IE support is being worked on.

Just downloaded on Firefox 40. I don't have a clue where the files are.
Took 3 attempts for the download to finish. The first two times froze.
Edit: Read Alex's post incorrectly. Trying in Chrome now.

Hi Guys,
In my opinion this new download feature is badly broken/ misconfigured. I have tried it using Firefox and Chrome. As has already been stated, the files seem to be downloading but they are not - at least not to my PC. I have searched my computer for "*.mp4" and they are not anywhere on my system. Are they being downloaded to one of the ITPRO.tv machines that was used to test out the new service. Maybe this would explain why my ITPRO stream is like I'm using dial up lately. So I need to watch downloaded videos now more than ever.
I was actually happy downloading the episodes individually - so I could rename them and keep them sorted where I wanted them. But I realize course downloads was a feature that was requested by many users.
The iOS app has major problems when it comes to downloading too. I gave up starting it after it crashed repeatedly when I tried to access the downloaded videos within the app.
In the meantime I will have to revert back to downloading the videos the way I did before I became an annual subscriber.......yes, it is quite possible to do - just as it is possible to send the videos to Chromecast from a mobile device.
Some may wonder why I would not just download all the content within 1 month then cancel my subscription. The answer to that is simple: I became an annual subscriber because I want to support such a high quality production that ITPro.tv is. I love the content and delivery - bad geek jokes and all. They put a smile on my face.
If any staff of the site wish for me to elaborate on anything I have stated above, I would be happy to respond in private. Also, I have an Android phone and tablet and I will happy to beta test your Android app before you release it if you'd like. -
I agree it's broken, even to the simplistic Chrome OS. At best, I can set a Chrome option to "Ask where to save each file before downloading" to chose an external SATA drive (Chromebooks and Chromeboxes typically have an SSD drive that isn't a large capacity), but it only prompts for a location at the end of each download. My concern is I don't know where it is buffering the file(s) during download, and I want to have as few write-cycles as possible.

Problem for me downloading whole series as well. Ubuntu Firefox 39.0, Cable connection and offpeak times. I have wireshark running, shows it all hunky dory, iftop is displaying the d0wnload no problems, itpro.tv webpage displays 2 of the 3 downloads are downloading and then hangs at 17% & 23%. Tried a couple of different times with no luck, hangs at the same percentage.

Everyone,
I haven't replied from the ITProTV team yet because we are working on it. I believe some of the problems are tied to the browsers. If you can regardless of the OS, try to use Chrome. That has been the most consistently working solution. But we are aware, I am letting our DevTeam know about issues that arise here but I haven't heard anything definitive yet I can tell you that downloads from our site shot through the roof. So, it could be that our delivery system isn't handling it well but I don't know. I will updates when a solution is firmly in place.

Thanks Ronnie!
I just wanted to let you guys know that I am also having trouble downloading. The download speed seems very sluggish regardless of the network I'm on compared to when I would download them individually. Also, I'm having the same problem others seem to be having, where it says it is downloading but just stops at 100%. That happens about half of the time while the others ask for a location when reaching 100%. I'm using the most recent versions of Mint and chrome. Again, thanks for all your help Ronnie! -
Is there an update to this? It's still not working for me.
-
I've just reported your post to the DevTeam. Can you provide for us some information? Broswer and version number . Is that download happening at all or did it just not function? This will provide our team with some of the additional information we may need.

@Ronnie-Wong
I was actually able to download a few episodes using chrome. But, it's been hit and miss - mostly miss.I've tried using IE, Chrome and Firefox (latest versions).
I reduced my number of simultaneous downloads to 1 to avoid overloading the server.
In IE, The download lists will populate, but just to the percent sign. No value ever shows up for the percent downloaded and the progress bar never moves.
In Chrome and Firefox, the download will actually start but it usually stops somewhere between 25% and 50%. No error messages. The screen doesn't change. The progress of the download just stops.I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit with a 30Mbps cable internet connection.

Hi, is there an update to this problem at all? support for other browsers?
-
There is definitely an issue with the feature. I mean, my connection is bad but not that bad, it has become really slow and hangs without finishing the donwload.
I tested it on firefox and chrome (latest versions) with Windows 7 32 bits and made not difference.

Guys the new new download feature is a vast improvement with the 'Get download links' option, works in Firefox too.
-
Adam,
Thanks for posting this for us! We've had some hiccups along the way to provide a demanded feature. We hope we've got most of the bugs worked out now. But please to do let us know here or continue to submit a support ticket if you're not getting downloads.

@Ronnie-Wong i posted before the new "get download links" option were available but i have been testing it since then and seems to work just fine.
I will keep you posted.

The new download feature does seem to be working much better for me now (at least in Chrome, haven't tried other browsers).
Thanks! I really appreciate the new feature!

Hi,
The problem with the new feature of "Get download links" which does work much better is that the file names are all in hex.
I have tried to download using the download manager however on the CEH course when I get to foot printing, it stops at 63%. I imagine this is the upper limit for the server and smaller files will download. It seems to be tied with a resource limit.
You could rename the files on the "Get download link" to a more memorable/usable filename.

Yep... still a problem using Windows 10 Edge, I.E, and Chrome.
