How to Configure AD .local domain to revolve .com resources internal and external
-
Greetings all,
I have a Server 2012 AD structure with 2 DC’s on a company.corp style DNS structure. I have been looking at getting the “workfolders” function up and running. I also would like to get a real Cert from Digicert.com to make this happen.
However, I have come upon on a DNS Problem that I can't get around. 1st. my public web site is hosted offsite so it has a public Internet address. I also have a private Intranet site that is hosted on the internal Lan Server. When I make a new Primary DNS Zone like mydomain.com in my DNS manager. I make an "A" record for my private site intranet.mydomain.com at 192.168.66.20 . That resolves and everyone is happy. I also then make a "A" record for www with an IP of the public Server 74.234.123.2. However when I browser for www.mydomain.com it does not resolve.
What am a doing wrong and how can I fix it. I would really appreciate any assistance in getting this matter fixed. For now I have had to delete the Primary mydomain.com Zone for the DNS Manager to get the Public website to load again. -
after much many, many, many google searches. It looks like I fixed my issue with a ipconfig /flushdns.
my internal and external ".com" A records are now resolving correctly. to internal Lan IPs and External Public IPs.
Please chime in if I still have missed anything else I should do wit the DNS Manager.
