Errdisable recovery in 004-Switching-Technologies no correct/working
-
I was following along with my lab and never able to get the shutdown port to recover.
Found this command: show errdisable recovery
and it show all of them disable but for security-violation
I un-do that with:
no errdisable recovery cause security-violation
than I try:
errdisable recovery cause psecure-violation
and it works!
Also using: show errdisable recovery
It show a count down of how long till it recover. -
John,
The err disable state really means that you have to fix the problem that occurred before that port will recover. Then normally you can issue a shutdown, then a no shutdown (essentially resetting the port manually). This brings the port back into the operational mode.
By setting the errdisable recovery cause psecure-violation, you've told it to wait an amount of time before automatically recovering instead of needing a manual recovery. You can also specify an amount of time in seconds to recover automatically. I believe without specifying the number of seconds, it defaults to 300 seconds.
Cordially,
