CCNA Security video missing?
I noticed when watching the CCNA security course that there seems to be a section missing between Secure Access Management parts one and two. Anyone else notice this. I find Ronnie difficult to follow. Missing Don on this one. Can anyone recommend a better CCNA Security course?
Thanks

Sorry that you're finding it difficult to follow. I take the objectives and develop the show from those objectives. I'll see to see if I can find a missing video that you're talking about and will report back what I can find.
As afar as ITProTV's offering, I'm the only one doing this course. I can only offer to answer questions that you may have on this one. We will be reshooting this course in the future but I'm probably going to be the one to do it. I cannot offer a better one on ITProTV.
addendum I will try to make it better!

Hi Ronnie, thanks for your response. You'll notice in the Secure access videos, you mention setting up a local database of usernames but you don't. Then in the second video, the database is there and you say a couple of times "remember we did this..." The database has appeared yet we didn't see that. If you look at the show notes below the episode, I don't think they correspond fully with the episode. I wasn't expecting you to recommend another course. That was a question for the community. I found this and I am going to sign up... https://www.cbtnuggets.com/it-training/cisco-ccna-security-210-260

There might have been an unusual edit in the video.
I'll have to check. In general, the username/password database I usually setup is not something complex: it's usually:
R1(config)#username admin password cisco123
just a single username and password. I'll try and review the video and see if I configured that. But like I said this series is up for reshooting this year because it was recorded in our early days of ITProTV.

Thanks again for replying. I agree the series needs reshooting. The average user scores on most videos are pretty low so I'm not alone. I just watched the 802.1x video and it seems so unprepared. Huge difference watching the CBT Nuggets course. Badly prepared courses like this will hurt this service. I don't want to be paying for two services so will have to choose one before I am due to renew again. I mean this feedback to be constructive so please don't take offence.
Best

I'm sure that our competitors appreciate your praise of their course here. So thanks for the mention again!
It's a fair criticism. You don't like the show and you like our competitors.
As I've stated we will be reshooting it but I can't tell you exactly when. Hopefully, like everything else we do, we'll do better given another chance.
-
Like I said , not personal. I have enjoyed many of the courses here. That is why I signed up after my free trial and have been a customer since July 2017. I don't think there is anyone who isn't aware of your competitors as they have been around so long. When you open a public forum for users to chat, expect them to chat freely!
-
We don't mind competition. I definitely do not. I am not sure how constructive criticism includes links to our competitors twice in the same thread.
We leave the forums open so that people can not only comment on the shows as you have but also so they can learn if there are things that we weren't clear with on the shows. We want the membership to feel open and free to criticize as you've done. But it is primarily about learning.
With the specific examples that you've named, I reviewed them and I've told Don and the team of the criticism and told them that we need to reshoot it.
I've offered to answer questions you may have on what we covered or didn't cover and that still stands especially in preparing for the exam.
-
I believe I linked it once. I wanted you to see what I meant by the quality I'd expect, bearing in mind both services cost a similar amount. Since it is about learning, I wanted to know if anyone knew of another course I could take. I can't help but think you have taken this personally. That unfortunately is out of my control. I will mark this thread as solved as I believe this communication is no longer constructive.
-
You're correct, you linked it once. My apologies on my mistake.
If you do have continued questions for preparing for CCNA Security, despite the criticism of the videos, you're free to post questions. I will still reply.

I didn't experience what the original poster did with the missing video/content in the "Secure Access" section, but there is a missing objective 4.1.c "Implement Cisco IOS Resilient Configuration". In that Router Security episode, Ronnie goes over privilege levels and role-based access (views), and hints that there is more to talk about towards the end, but nothing more on this objective.
I'm not expecting a new video just for one topic, but was just curious about it because the series is so specifically geared towards each objective. There is plenty of material out there I can find on my own regarding "Resiliant Configuration",,.. was just curious why maybe it was left out.
Ronnie, as always you are doing a great job explaining some pretty difficult concepts in this series, with some pretty tough configurations, so I think you are doing a great job!
-
I'm not sure if I left it out or just combined it with another topic because it was a small topic. I'll have to look and report back here.
UPDATE. I just checked the show notes. I see that I covered that topic within the
Secure CLI Access and IOS pt2
So it ended up as a part two of a larger topic.
-
Ronnie, I have no doubt you made the episode, you even hinted to Jo that there was more info on this topic at the end of part 1 . These series are very complete. I'm just not seeing the part 2 on my menu list:
-
Thanks for that. This is a rare occasion that we can't find any mention of that show...I've got show notes and a description of who did the show with me but no actual video.
So next week, I'll jump in there to record an episode that went missing. Thanks for pointing that out. I'm only sorry we didn't catch it, with all the checks we have this one made it through.
-
Ronnie, unfortunately another issue with the series. I think the episode menu is missing part 2 on "Describe Different Firewall Technologies". This would be the episode on stateful vs stateless firewalls, and the state table. You have some general note outlines for the show, so perhaps it already got recorded?
Anyways, enjoying the series so far. I have yet to fail an exam from only watching ITproTV (A+ 901/902, Sec+ 501, Net+ 006, CCENT, CCNA:R&S), and Ronnie you have had a major part in most, if not all, of those series. So thanks, and keep up the great content!
-
Thanks I'll check it out there too!
ADDENDUM I think I left this little bit out because I mentioned those in different part of the series. I didn't have any notes for a part 2 on this show and I wouldn't have felt right about leaving it out on purpose unless I had mentioned it previously.
-
@jeff-hurst,
I just shot the part 2 over and it's up on the website or will be soon! -
Well, I took my CCNA Security exam this morning and passed....I did just go back and watch the video and it covers the resilient configuration perfect. I agree that it is a pretty useless set of commands, and I can attest that you DEFINITELY need to know this for the exam. Ronnie, as you like to say, "easy points on the exam". Still batting 100% on my exams with using only ITProTV....good job guys!
-
Congrats on the exam...You're well on your way, keep up the great work!
