Access Based Enumeration
-
I created a server with the File Server Feature. I created a new shared volume and during set up selected 'access based enumeration.' I then created two users on my DC with a profile mapped drive to the share. Logging into a client created their $home folder on the File Server shared drive, but if I got to $Home the user can see all the folders in that share. What am I not setting up right?

James,
It sounds like you followed the correct steps. The automatic home directory creation process should have set the permissions on the folders to be restricted to the individual users. From there, each user should only see their own folders. Did you check the permissions on the individual user home directories? Perhaps some other permissions are being inherited that are allowing the users to see more than they should.

I figured it out. There is ALOT more to Access Based Enumeration then just selecting it. There is a lengthy process of permissions that must be followed. I hate to link to an external site but Spiceworks is trusted and thoroughly explains the process to have Access Based Enumeration on a share.
