Renew my CCNA
-
Hi ITPro TV.. I need some advice.. I earned my CCNA back in June 2017 and my June 2020 expiration is quickly approaching. Initially I had planned to continue with my CCNP studies, but life happened and now I would really like to just do whatever is the absolute easiest to renew my CCNA. What are my options?
Sounds like Cisco is making some big changes to the certification program since I tested on 200-105.. What should I do?
And how about training? I'd prefer not to sit through lecture again if I am testing on the same material, a lab and practice exams would probably be more productive. Maybe go back and watch lecture if there is a topic covered that I don't recall or am unfamiliar with...

@Adam-Tyler,
The exam iteration is currently still the same as when you sat the exam. You should probably sit for the ICND2 exam again as far as ease goes if you want to renew.I would take a practice exam from KaplanIT, then see the areas that you may need refreshing. Take a look at our show in those areas. Then, take the practice exam again and see if you've improved. If so, you're probably ready for the exam with your previous experience.
For ITProTV, this would be the our CCNA Routing and Switching show.

KaplanIT
Great! KaplanIT exams are provided through ITPro or is that another resource I should search up? I've used the practice exams included with the ITPro courses in the past, is that what you are referring to?

@Adam-Tyler, should be with the course at itprotv

How long do I have before this Exam won't be available anymore? I understand that Cisco is overhauling the entire certification program.. Also, after the certificate program changes, what is going to be the logical next step for certification? Would I still go after CCNP or is there a different route that I will have to follow?

@Adam-Tyler,
23 Feb 2020 will be the last day to sit for the ICND2. After that point, I would pursue the CCNP--which will then be only 2 exams, rather than 3! -

Thanks Ronnie. Only 2 exams for CCNP huh? So after Feb 2020, is the CCNA going to be much more difficult to get? I mean for someone starting from scratch? I recall reading something about the CCNA no longer having specialties? So my CCNA route/switch for example will just be converted to a standard CCNA? Or am I off there?

It's a matter of perspective. If you already have some networking fundamentals, then I don't know if it will be as difficult. But it is a single comprehensive exam. No one knows until we take the exam...and one has taken it yet. I'll be taking it on 24 Feb 2020 to see if I need to add or change any material in our newest CCNA offering for it.
I would still recommend for people that don't to check out the CCENT course and get the background knowledge needed.

Will ITPro.tv have the new CCNA 2020 curriculum out soon?

@David-Kallweit,
it should be on our site now. Remember that we won't really know until the day we all take it. We'll add to it if I find that we are lacking in anything. -
Hey Ronnie, just to double check.. If I renew my CCNA by taking the soon to be retired 200-105 test, I am still in a position to certify on the CCNP track? In other words my CCNA certification is automatically upgraded and valid with the new program?
Regards,
Adam Tyler -
@Adam-Tyler,
Yes. The current CCNA will convert to the newer CCNA on 24 Feb 2020. -
Thanks Ronnie, I was just going to launch the practice exam for the CCNA2018 course and it gave me two choices.
Launch Cert-200-105 Test
Launch Cert-200-125 TestJust to confirm, if I am testing prior to feb 2020, I want to focus on the 200-105 right? I've already purchased and scheduled the test, 200-105.
Regards,
Adam Tyler -
Yes, that should renew your CCNA.
-
Thanks. As I am going through the practice exam for 200-105, I notice there are frame relay related questions. That was dropped from the course correct?
-Adam
-
Officially dropped in theory. It doesn't mean you might not still see a stray question from previous iterations of the exam though. I would know the basic concepts still, though you won't see many questions on it.
-
@Ronnie-Wong Thank you. Sat for the exam on 11/13 and scored a 933. Funny, I didn't feel ready going in.

@Adam-Tyler, great job! The ITProTV team congratulates and celebrates with you!
