ITIL vs Agile IT Management
-
Has ITIL got a future? compared to AGILE IT Project management? There seems to be less jobs for Service Design Architect especially in the UK. Is there a future for this role any more? Which other roles are best suited for Service Design Architects / consultants? Is Agile IT Project management a good fit? Has it got a long term future? How about UX service designers [for consideration on re-skilling purposes] based on global trends in the next 3 to 5 years

In a word - "Yes". Agile, and Project Management has traditionally referred to the creative half of IT, where as ITIL and Service Management was always traditionally seen as the operational half. This was a distinction that shouldn't have been made, but perception is always reality.
As we evolve through versions of ITIL there has been a concerted effort to describe service management as holistic and high-level with reference to PM as being specific methodologies for the creation of services and products. The feint line between ITSM and PM is now being eradicated completely in ITIL 4 with the use of Agile and DevOps practices in the High Velocity IT module and references throughout to the collaboration required.
In terms of the Service Design Architect role, the role still exists, and has to exist as services and products have to be designed, but organisations are creating and using more specific terminology to describe roles, and the SD role is no different.
In terms of future prediction; I can't really predict, but there is a deliberate drive to focus on CX and UX. These roles combine the skills of the Service Design Architect with the skills of the BRM.
