Windows 10 business vs consumer edition / VLSC vs Media Creation
-
We have some new PC's that are installed with OEM licenses.
In WSUS I suddenly see 1 Windows 10 business edition ?
What is the difference with the consumer edition ?
Is it because a clean install has been performed with a Volume License key ?
In VLSC you can download both versions ? And with the Media Creation tool ?
How can you see what version you have. Not possible with winver..
Do I need to get this 1 back into a consumer edition (eg to streamline Windows Updates)? How can you switch between editions ?Thanks for the help and feedback.

Hey @Dieter-Handschoewerker here is a little support documentation from Microsoft:
Here are the differences between the Windows RTM versions (Windows 10 Enterprise is a VL edition and not RTM)
If you need to see what edition your are currently running try running slmgr -dli from an elevated command prompt.
Here is the available upgrade/downgrade paths:

Here is the Windows 10 edition upgrade paths:

Finally here is a Window 10 WSUS troubleshooting link:

Hi @Wes-Bryan,
So in fact OEM of Windows Pro = Consumer Edition (Pre-installed on new laptop).
When installing Windows 10 with Volume License Key and it states Business Edition, it is Enterprise ?
And there is no way to downgrade from Enterprise (Business) to Pro (Consumer) ?
