CEF explanation
-
Hi! Thank you so much for your ENCOR course, its amazing!
I have a doubt about CEF table, and looking at the other posts, i cant find the response. How can i understand the table? I am not able to understand the explanation of the Question ID 1287506 of Architecture´s test, and i feel lost about the topic.
On the course video, I see that Anthony doesnt pay to much attention to the CEF table (explaining it), so, i dont know if its really important, but every question counts.Thank you very much for the help!

You may want to review Switch ASICs and switch methods to put a little more into context.
I'm not sure what Question ID 1287506 is. Sorry I can't be of more help on that.
Remember that switches have different switch methods:
-
Process Switching: all packets must go through the CPU and software forwarding
-
Fast Switching: first packet through the CPU but hardware forwarding for the rest of the flow (better)
-
Cisco Express Forwarding: All packets switched in ASIC; forwarding in hardware. (best and today default for multilayer switches and routers)
Please let us know if can provide any more help
