Trouble understanding Single Bucket Token algorithm
-
Hi there,
As I am self-studying Cisco CCNP and CCIE Enterprise Core ENCOR 350-401, reading the Official Cert Guide by Brad Edgeworth, Kevin Wallace, Jason Gooley, David Hucaby, Ramiro Garza Rios
There's an example I encountered but not quite sure how to understand.
Can any fellow CCNP explain to me more about this example, I failed to understand why would they recalculate the CIR when it's already given. Also, in the next figure, they would show the Tc is 125ms as they used in the interpacket delay calculation but in the prior the Tc = 100ms?
Thank you

I think the issue here is ambiguity, They are telling you at the beginning, here's what the result will be. Then, they describe how to get the TC. This then lead you with another example of how they got the Tcs. Which now will determine how you got a CIR. But they used a different example that then one they started with.
I do not know what happened there except for bad editing of the material. I would say they copied and pasted an example from one of the author's previous work to stand as a place holder for what this example should follow but forgot to change the numbers to match.

To @Ronnie-Wong
Thanks, Ronnie. I purchased this book online not knowing they might have been rushed to be published as I've found several errors like this throughout the book. I hope they will have a revision for this soon.
All the best to you.
