pathping command 100% packet loss
-
Lost/Sent = Pct Lost/Sent = Pct Source to Here This Node/Link
1 17ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% 209.85.240.61
0/ 100 = 0% |
2 --- 100/ 100 =100% 100/ 100 =100% 72.14.238.53
0/ 100 = 0% |
3 14ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% example(1.1.1.1)this is a real example excluding destination ip.
could u explain be the difference between Source to Here and Node/Link column?
according to my knowledge Node/Link column tells how many packet loss through that hop out of 100.
If there is 100% loss of packet at hop 2 how Node/Link column hop 3 is getting the packet?

So, we're missing a piece of information here which is how the pathping was issued:
C:>pathping -n www.itpro.tv
Tracing route to itpro.tv [18.64.234.3]
it begins with a trace route. each line in that trace route then uses the data returned from that traceroute to compute the information you see. This is generally from the public IP address to the destination IP address when it refers tosource to here
. When it saysthis node/link
it is showing from sending device, from my laptop to the destination ip address....
according to my knowledge Node/Link column tells how many packet loss through that hop out of 100.
If there is 100% loss of packet at hop 2 how Node/Link column hop 3 is getting the packet?

could u please explain source to here and node/link column in detail?
what is difference between them assuming both are not the last hop:-
-- 100/100=100%(source to here) 100/100=100%(node/link)
vs
-- 100/100=100%(source to here) 0/100=0%(node/link) -

what is difference between them assuming both are not the last hop:-
-- 100/100=100%(source to here) 100/100=100%(node/link)
% of packets lost up to that hop
This is logical loss of packets.
This is more likely....vs
-- 100/100=100%(source to here) 0/100=0%(node/link)% of packets lost per link
If any % is lossed may indicate an actual network link issue at that link which mean you can possibly trace it down to that segment. -
plz correct me if I am wrong?
source to here column :- it means packet loss between source and that particular hop.
node/link column:- it means packet loss between that current hop and the intermediate hop .
-
On that I'm not sure since it works based on traceroute. I haven't thought about it that way. since The RTT doesn't seem to indicate from one hop to the next but from source to each hop. The RTT doesn't make since if it's just reporting from one hop to the next.

here is the 2 website which I looked the most.
1.https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/windows-commands/pathping
2.https://www.clouddirect.net/knowledge-base/KB0011455/using-traceroute-ping-mtr-and-pathpingnode/
these both website have different understanding for node/link column.
I am very confused with node/link column. Not able to get proper defination about it. If anyone can help me out with that defination it would be very helpful.
