Changes coming to ITIL certifications! - January 2023
-
Hello everyone,
I'm pinning this announcement so that you will be sure to see it if you utilized the forums. As of 2023, PeopleCert/AXELOS have changed the policy of maintaining your certification. They have moved towards a "continuing education credit" system that will force certificate holders to attend courses and/or retake certification exams every three years to maintain your status as certified. This will also apply to the PRINCE2 and other AXELOS certification silos.
For more information, you can check out this well written article by Beyond20. Click here to read the full news.
Cheers!

So I have less than 6 months to re-do my ITIL 4 Foundations as anyone who wrote the exams before 30 June 2020 has until 1 July 2023 or the certification is gone.
And I see the CPD points points program only starts in March which can be used instead of re-writing exam.
While I understand the 3 year renewal process, this last minute announcement is looking more and more like a money grab by PeopleCert. They don't even give a discount to renew the certification.
If I had a choice for something similar to the ITIL cert, I would look elsewhere

Hi there @SIMON-TAPLIN
Thanks for being an excellent participator in our forums! We appreciate your feedback and helpful suggestions to other members.
Believe it or not, if you're active in the ITIL/ITSM community you will have seen discussions about this possibility for about a year (maybe more). For the Foundation level, this won't be too much of an effort, however for those of us who have Managing Professional and Strategic Leader certifications, it will be very expensive and a lot of work. Personally I'm hoping that the CPD program will make sense. But I'm not holding my breath. :)
