Installing ESXi 7.0 on a SAN
-
Does anyone know the best practices for setting up ESXi Datastores on a SAN? I have an HPE DL2700 SAN with 24Tb of free space. Should I just create one Datastore with 24Tb, or should I divide that up into smaller Datastores? My end-game will be to have four servers connecting to the SAN and all of my VMs running between the four servers and using the SAN as shared storage.

Sounds like a great idea. You have to make decisions for dividing up your LUN across your SAN. Do you need larger and fewer LUNs or smaller and more LUNs.
Take a look at VMWare's documentation on this decision and some good considersations: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/7.0/com.vmware.vsphere.storage.doc/GUID-2C8FAE1F-98F7-4E0B-AEA0-83A4FF16A252.html
I've been a long time ESXi user, which is fine but with a SAN, to fully take advantage of the SAN you may also want to consider vSphere to manage ESXi to the fullest capabilities.
