    Hello IT Pro TV

I have a question for @AnthonySequeira. My organization is running into an issue where Snort v3 consumes at least 60% of the CPU of the appliance. Cisco suggested a down grade to Snort V2 which we did but didn't help much. Last we are going to update the software to a more recent one like 7.0.0.2 or more. Have you seen this bug? Have other people talked about this issue? If so what other people have done or found by upgrading to the next version?

    Thanks
    Victor

I had not heard about this until reading your post (sorry I missed it until now). Checking the Cisco forums - there are several threads talking about this. Here is an example - https://community.cisco.com/t5/network-security/fpr-4100-snort-memory-high-utilization/td-p/4400382

Please note that I did see forum posts indicating that an upgrade solved the issue.

Here is an official bug statement on the problem from Cisco. https://quickview.cloudapps.cisco.com/quickview/bug/CSCvt34894
