AZ-900 practice exam harder than real one. (Why?)
-
Hello everyone!
I just passed my AZ-900 exam (thank god). But the reason I make this post is to enquire about why the practice exam here on ITpro/ACI learning is so different and so much harder than the actual exam? When I did the practice exams here I only managed to get around 50% correct but with Microsoft's practice exam I would get 80-90% correct. The actual exam falls somewhere in between the two in difficulty but questions are nowhere near as long and complex as they are on the practice exam here on this platform.
So since I plan on taking the Security+ exam in the not so distant future, I of course wonder if the practice exam for that exam here on this platform has the same issues? In other words, is the practice exam for Sec+ harder than the actual exam?
It gets quite confusing as you don't know if you are well prepared for the exam or not. Would really appreciate an answer!
Thanks

We do try and err on the side of making our practice exams more difficult than the actual exam as this is what a majority of our students want. You can only imagine the experience if you are acing practice exams and then run off and take the real thing only to get killed by that exam.
With that said, we do not want there to be an experience like what you had. The practice exams should be a "bit more" difficult than the actual exam.
In this particular case, what I think has happened is that Microsoft has made the actual exam much easier as they have revised it over time. This is because they have created so many more Azure-related certs. Back when this exam was originally created, it was one of the few exams on Azure that existed and it was a bit more tough of an exam.
Thank you so much for the feedback and we are consistently working on our practice exams and will consider your feedback in this process.

Hi and thank you for the quick response!
I completely understand the logic of making the practice exam harder so that you are then well prepared for the actual exam. My only issue is that in this particular exam the questions and the way the questions were strucured was so different from the actual exam. The practice exam questions here were very long and scenario based but on the acutal exam there wasn't a single question that was formated in that way. It was for the most part simple one line sentences questions.
But anyways, I can expect that future practice exams will be somewhat harder then the actual exam but maybe not as extreme as the AZ-900 then.
Thanks

Hi,
I am glad I have come across this post. I am currently studying for my MS900 exam. The questions that I am receiving in the practice tests are of much higher/complex/standard than what I have studied for.
Where you stated, "It gets quite confusing as you don't know if you are well prepared for the exam or not. Would really appreciate an answer!" resonates with me a lot.
Will the MS900 exam have questions of this complexity?
Regards,
Ruban
