Additionally... Why is there such an effort to get your cisco account associated with companies if this is wrong? My thinking is that, like other companies, there may be some benefit passed on to X company's employees because of this formed relationship.... ie. Verizon, gives us 20% off, car insurance is reduced by X percent, Hotels/Rental cars are discounted to us, etc...
But most of all, while I was on the phone with a cisco agent setting up my account to download for work purposes a while back... The cisco agent said that I could merge my account, or add the necessary work email to my existing account, or something of that matter; any of which, would have enabled me to use the account that my certs are associated with, to download software for work. So when it would have come to downloading something for personal use, If there would not have been the rejection message about needing a "partnership", how would I have known that it's wrong in that case? Kinda makes me think otherwise... still hesitant to hit the download button though.
(fyi, in the end I told the cisco agent to just create a different account with my work email)granted, now I know i'm getting to the point of... these are questions for cisco. In practicing my rant, maybe one of you could have saved me a phone call.

@WU-TANG,
For Cisco, it's all about legalese. They really only want people and companies who have purchased cisco equipment (hardware) to have access to these things. Lawyers draw up this stuff over a period of 40 years now and that's what makes the loopholes. The business and legal side are not going to point out how to make things easy on anyone except for the company. -
Results of call #1 to cisco tech support:
After fighting off attempts to be redirected to sales: Sounds like you are not allowed to do this...kinda. Sounds like it is more of an "organization" thing, more than it is a "cisco" thing. I will talk to our network group and see if this is something that they already have channels for.
