Windows Sysadmin Courses
-
Hey everyone!
I am looking at skilling up my Windows Sysadmin skills. I have been working helpdesk support mostly Windows client hardware for 10 years but I never really had the opportunity with my employer to learn the server side. I feel there was some anti-no-college-degree-in-IT going on there, but I digress.
Would the MS AZ-800 be a good starting point? I have some experience working with GPOs and AD as well as installing Windows Server but thats about it. I have never had the opportunity to configure a file server, DNS, ADDS, GPOs etc. Will this course teach those aspects? I've looked at the course itself on Microsoft Learn but I wanted to get people's opinions here. If that isn't the right place to start, what would you recommend?
Thank you!

Hey @Andrew-Despres great to hear from you as always! Yes, I had the pleasure of working with Robin on that course and it covers a wide range of topics, including some of the concepts you are mentioning. For example:
I hope this helps and look forward to hearing from you!

Hi @wes-bryan !
Awesome! What would be the difference between the AZ800 and the AZ104? Would one be a prerequisite over the other?
Thank you!

AZ-104 focuses heavily on the Azure side of administration, where AZ-800 focuses on hybrid cloud deployments.

Gotcha. I've started your AZ800 series. Super interesting stuff! This is the content I've been trying to find for years now. I'm excited to be able to deploy DCs and ADDS etc and not simply be a user of one.
Thanks @wes-bryan !
