At the current time, there are three different vLabs available. They vary depending on which course you are in. Here are the configurations:
A+ and Net+

1 x Windows Server 2008 R2 Domain Controller 1 x Windows 7 Workstation
MCSA Windows 8 70-687 and 70-688 1 x Windows Server 2012 R2 Domain Controller 2 x Windows 8.1 Workstation
MCSA Windows Server 2012 70-410 and 70-411 1 x Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter Domain Controller 1 x Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard Member Server 2 x Windows 8.1 Workstation
The way the website is laid out right now, the appropriate lab is launched based on which course you are in. We plan on adding more soon, but for now those are the ones that are available. We will be adding a master vLab page soon so that you can directly select which one you want. That will be important as we add more labs going forward.

Thank you for pointing that out and you are absolutely correct. When I said that, I didn't mean to imply that 20 was the only thing that it could start with, but that anything with a 20 at the beginning falls within the publicly registered range. If you get a publicly registered address today it will most likely start with 20 since that is the range they are issuing from, but in the future you very well may see all the way through 3f. In hind sight, I can see how that statement was confusing and I should have worded it differently.

I think that is a great idea and we have already been looking at a way to offer exactly that. For now, feel free to use the new "General Discussion" forum to post any suggestions you have. In the future, we are looking to setup a regular survey system so that we can poll our users on what they like, don't like and most importantly what new certifications they would like to see added in the future.

Thanks for viewing the shows, we're constantly trying to make this more suitable for our audience. I hate to say this but I'm not sure if this is on the radar for improvements. That is not to say it's not something to be considered...but it's not something we're doing yet. But stay tuned...we're about to roll out a lot of cool things. Next month we'll be rolling a system for our subscribers for them to track episodes they've viewed and episodes remaining, however it won't be able to track progress within an episode. It's a feature we hope to have soon but I don't have an ETA on it.

I commute 9 hours a week and I too would like an audio only stream so that I could listen to the material. I'm sure you've already thought of this but an iOS and/or Android App might be a solution for protecting your content while providing a consistent, feature rich user experience. For reference, I think the Audible iOS app allows a user to access their library and download/remove content from their device as needed. I know developing an app isn't a small task, but I thought I'd throw that out there.

No, I'm not an Omega, sorry :(

This is one that we have debated on quite a bit. For now, we are sticking with Windows 8/Server 2012 and newer because that is what people need to get certified in. However, you are very much correct in that a lot of companies are sticking with Windows 7 for the time being. We may develop some limited Windows 7 content later in the year but it is not on our road-map as of yet. Now that the rumblings of Windows 9 have already started, we may never get to Windows 7. We do use Windows 7 in the A+ content because that is what CompTIA tests on, so it is worth checking out.
Also, if you have any specific Windows 7 questions you can feel free to ask them here. We can always do one off videos to demonstrate technologies.

Not all of our episodes will have show notes posted. Some episodes have show notes that are simply an outline of topics to discuss during the show and generally aren't posted. Other episodes have show notes with commands and definitions pulled from demos that can be useful for studying and are typically posted. There are a few show notes waiting to be posted but those are for the recent Cisco episodes. If there is something specific, let me know and I'll get it in the queue.

Hi Anthony,
The laptops we use are the Dell XPS 12 configured with an Intel Core i7 @ 2.0GHz, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD. We use Microsoft Hyper-V to virtualize our lab machines. The Dell XPS 12 has plenty of power to run a couple of virtual machines simultaneously.
Good luck on setting up your test lab. Virtual machines are fantastic to learn and play with this stuff. If you have any questions along the way send 'em our way!

We have been seeing some issues with the video sizing in the embedded players. The problem is how each streaming provider embeds their players a little differently. We have worked out a solution, but it requires editing the pages of over 120 episodes. While we roll out the changes you may see some pages render perfectly, while others are still awaiting the update. All of the episodes should be corrected within two weeks.

Thank you for writing in. That is something we have discussed opening up in the future, but it is not allowed right now. Our main issue is that it is very difficult to secure our content from rampant piracy without imposing annoying DRM on the legitimate users. We have received a number of requests for offline viewing of our episodes and we have been batting around a few (non-DRM) ideas to make that possible. We'll keep you posted when a solution is available.
