It's always best to learn the commands outright and type them outright until you know them. There is a chance they are accepted but again they may not be. So learn them outright. What we don't want to do is say they will definitely be accepted. There's just too many abbreviations that people know and which one would be and wouldn't be accepted.

My recommendation still stands, there is no harm in coming to a simulation on the exam and trying it; press enter and see what happens. If it doesn't balk at you; then it's good. If it does; then it won't take it.

Yep, even we get stuck in our old habits. Also because it's easy to think you know what you're doing and stick a seq number in. Personally, I know it's faster and I should do it this way. I find myself still doing it "OLD School" well because that's how I learned it!

There is no doubt that the 2048 is more secure than 1024. I agree!
The example that I gave is used to set the minimum for SSH v2. If this is not set to above 1024 it will default to 512 or 768 which is will only allow for SSH v1 support by the device.

We've not covered QoS in our current CCNA or CCNA Security. The brief bit of QoS you may see in the exam objectives for the ROUTE course has yet to be covered as well. More Cisco content is in our future but not currently scheduled.

@william-clements Many congratulations to you, sounds like you put in the work and got your reward, nice one. :clap:

It can become just the convention that you (or the place you work for) adopts (like whether you wire 568A or 568B) if you do a bunch of subnets. I'm usually a "broadcast address minus one" (and 568B) guy. Don't get trapped into thinking it is all a /24 world.

A good subnetting practice link is http://www.subnetting.net/Subnetting.aspx?mode=practice, some questions will ask the first and last valid host addresses, which will be where either camp (network address plus one, or broadcast address minus one) will place their gateways....

(config)#voice vlan state auto-enabled
(config)#interface range fax-xx
(config-if-range)#switchport trunk native vlan XXX

I don't know of anyone who has used already published material in line with ITProTV. But even, when I was studying for the CCNA back in 2006 - 2007, I took the official course, and I still appreciated Wendell Odom's book then for the great diagrams and lab examples that I would configure equipment to try and the same thing Wendell would do. They cemented concepts that I learned in the class and provided some answers to questions that a 5 day class just doesn't have the time to answer.

I guess today, I would use the ITProTV course to help focus in on preparing for the topics that will be covered on the exam and then Wendell Odom's book or anyone else's to help me find answers that I came across on my own study and use it to do additional labs that as a novice, I didn't know what topology to build, Wendell would lay it out and I would build it.

To tell you the truth, this was some of the best times the equipment itself because I was able to recable the equipment and make sure I had the correct physical configuration before the logical configurations and see some of the differences in old equipment vs newer equipment. At times, I would use GNS3 and find out the limitations and benefits of emulators. So from Wendell Odom, I was able to take his labs and make it complex. Then to also diagram a lab topology to allow me configure just about cisco ccna concept that I needed without having to recable after a while.

At this point, if there are no notes showing up with the episode, the notes either didn't get saved or they have been misplaced to the point where we're not sure what happened to them. We don't like that but that was a reality of some of our early content.

Any notes that we would have for show should appear with the episode or they may not exist.

I agree with Daniel. Having a current copy of all the switch and router configs in one place is also useful in other ways, such as planning major changes. It's well worth the effort to set up an automated configuration collection mechanism. But be sure the configuration copies are well protected; getting access to all of a company's network device configurations is a hacker's dream!

I loved the part where you talked about the Compact Flash card shooting across the room. That is definitely the kind of hands on experience you won't get with the simulators LOL!

Your experiences with the equipment is exactly why most are proponents of having at least some physical devices for study. The practical education you get from them is priceless and something you would be hard pressed to simulate.

Sticky ARP is a security feature that prevents one system from taking over another systems IP address.

Best practice is to use this security feature when you're working with a subnet using STATIC IP addresses and not DHCP. With static IPs, addresses will not be changing and Sticky ARP will not be bothersome.

If you're using DHCP, you might want to consider disabling Sticky ARP and instead use DHCP Snooping and Dynamic ARP Inspection . This will provide you with the same level of protection with Sticky ARP.

I had to ask Don about this one. Like you, I was stumped for this one. Don says its probably two things:

Sheer volume of switches sold, Juniper may sell less and therefore has a high price.

The enterprise types of switches may do more in batch commands and other functionalities in their JunOS.

(Don says)...they're just that awesome..but as afar as he knows there's no hidden hardware tech that would make them that way..
