@Daniel-Loyer,
So Microsoft will not be selling any more of these exam vouchers after the posted date of 30 June 2021. They are good for a year -- 30 June 2022.
It is not a waste of money for anyone if you're planning on taking the MTA exams before their expiration date.
Microsoft, I believe is wanting to retire these exams and announcing that desire but at the same time still wanting to gain capital from that. So they post a cutoff date on purchasing exam vouchers for it (creating an urgency). Then, they tell you there is a grace period of one year to take the exam. This candidates the impression that the cutoff date is the same as the last date the exams are valid.
What you see here is the forum is a recognition, that the MTA itself is going away. For many, a valid question is "Why is this a certification that I would spend time and effort in completing?" So here is my take...
The validity here is understanding that purpose of an MTA is to help you prepare for a job interview in a specific field. It is not necessarily validating any one skillset. For example, the Networking Fundamentals show, doesn't show you how to configure anything, it is an introduction to what these networking concepts are and what these devices do and where you find them. To help you learn terminology. All of these I just mentioned are great when preparing for a job interview is an entry level Networking Technician. It is also valuable in preparation for an associate level certification too in the fact that the concepts will not be completely foreign to you.
