@Paul-Mac-Giolla-Caoine,
Others may want to offer advice here too on exam preparation.
Download the exam objectives for LPIC-1 from the the vendor. Review the topics, mark your areas os strength for review and areas of weakness or ignorance of topic for a deeper dive into the concepts.
Create a study plan. Each session should include a time limit, and 2 or 3 topics at max. I like the 1.5 hr time limit. This gives you about 1hr for the deep dive and two 15 minute reviews of strength areas. Study!
For the weak areas, write questions out on paper you need additional help on, post them here. Either Don or other members may be able to help answer you question.
Continue with this pattern until you go through the entire exam objectives list. Then do the same action as listed in 1 above. Mark areas... these should become fewer weak areas and confidence should be building in your stronger areas.
If practice tests exist, which I'm not sure if they do, then try a practice test....do not worry about the score, you're looking at the format of the questions. This will give you an exam like feel of the questions so that you can review topics and ask questions about topics. Review every explanation of the question you're given so you know why answers are wrong and why they say an answer is right (if given).
This method will help you prepare for the exam.
